Comparison of Multiobjective Evolutionary Algorithms: Empirical Results

چکیده
In this paper, we provide a systematic comparison of various evolutionary approaches to multiobjective optimization using six carefully chosen test functions. Each test function involves a particular feature that is known to cause difficulty in the evolutionary optimization process, mainly in converging to the Pareto-optimal front (e.g., multimodality and deception). By investigating these different problem features separately, it is possible to predict the kind of problems to which a certain technique is or is not well suited. However, in contrast to what was suspected beforehand, the experimental results indicate a hierarchy of the algorithms under consideration. Furthermore, the emerging effects are evidence that the suggested test functions provide sufficient complexity to compare multiobjective optimizers. Finally, elitism is shown to be an important factor for improving evolutionary multiobjective search.

Multiobjective Imperialist Competitive Evolutionary Algorithm for Solving Nonlinear Constrained Programming Problems
Nonlinear constrained programing problem (NCPP) has been arisen in diverse range of sciences such as portfolio, economic management etc.. In this paper, a multiobjective imperialist competitive evolutionary algorithm for solving NCPP is proposed. Firstly, we transform the NCPP into a biobjective optimization problem. Secondly, in order to improve the diversity of evolution country swarm, and he...
متن کاملTackling Dynamic Problems with Multiobjective Evolutionary Algorithms
In this chapter, we discuss the use of multiobjective evolutionary algorithms (MOEAs) for solving single-objective optimization problems in dynamic environments. Specifically, we investigate the consideration of a second (artificial) objective, with the aim of maintaining greater population diversity and adaptability. The paper suggests and compares a number of alternative ways to express this ...
متن کاملA COMPARISON OF MULTIOBJECTIVE EVOLUTIONARY ALGORITHMS by Crina Gro ş
In this paper a comparison of the most recent algorithms for Multiobjective Optimization is realized. For this comparison are used the followings algorithms: Strength Pareto Evolutionary Algorithm (SPEA), Pareto Archived Evolution Strategy (PAES), Nondominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm (NSGA II), Adaptive Pareto Algorithm (APA). The comparison is made by using five test functions.
متن کاملImproving the performance of evolutionary algorithms for the multiobjective 0/1 knapsack problem using ϵ -dominance
The 0/1 knapsack problem is a well known problem occurring in many real world problems. The problem is NP-Complete. The multiobjective 0/1 knapsack problem is a generalization of the 0/1 knapsack problem in which multiple knapsacks are considered. A new evolutionary algorithm for solving multiobjective 0/1 knapsack problem is proposed in this paper. This algorithm used a ε-dominance relation fo...
متن کاملThe Role of Elitism in Multiobjective Optimization with Evolutionary Algorithms
This paper studies the influence of elitism in Evolutionary Multiobjective Optimization. The true efficiency of inserting elitism in these algorithms was not yet sufficiently developed. Many algorithms for multiobjective optimization use different methods to keep the best individuals (the elite) founded on the duration of the search process. The problem is how this elitism can be preserved and,...
